Because of our rescheduling we ended up with extra time in Dunedin, we even went to the Christmas Parade. The highlight for me was the aviary at the Botanical Garden, even though I don't like seeing animals in captivity. I must be desperate. So far I feel rather underwhelmed by our New Zealand visit.
The Dunedin Christmas Parade was enjoyed by all.
One day we used the awesome local bus network to do the Tunnel Beach Walk, the Signal Hill Lookout Walk, and to walk down Baldwin Street, the steepest street in the world.
Dunedin Botanic Garden: Conservatory, Herbaceous Border (with Himalayan Blue Poppies), Knot Garden, and Aviary
We had a very very tasty meal at Let Them Eat Vegan restaurant.
There were plenty of interesting buildings in Dunedin. We stayed at the art deco Law Courts Hotel, just one block from the central Octagon.
All Saints' Church
Central Fire Station
The Art Deco Former New Zealand Railways Road Services Building (1939)
Dunedin Railway Station
Dunedin Town Hall (R), St Paul's Cathedral (L)
The Art Deco Allen Court Apartments
And finally the Historic Speight's Brewery
