Luck would have it that there is a weekend bus (year round) from St-Malo to the cape to the east, Pointe du Grouin. Taking advantage of the bus, we had ourselves a coastal walk, from Port Mer to Pointe du Nid.
We "Take the bus!" to Port Mer to start our Pointe du Gruoin walk, passing some fields of fall vegetables en route.
It's a 5 minute walk to the coast from the bus stop to join the trail. We turned north on the east coast of the "Pointe" and were immediately rewarded with a view to Mont-Saint-Michel way in the distance. Woohoo!
There were many boats moored off Plage de Port Mer but not much beach activity other than a few clammers and several kayakers.
Wow! Sailboat offshore!
We ate our picnic lunch at Pointe du Gruoin with a fabulous 270 degree view.
And then started walking south on the west side of the pointe. The beautiful weather continues.
Behind Sun-Ling, that's the Pointe du Gruoin parking, restaurant, and visitor center.
Fellow walkers take a break.
Looking south to Plage du Saussaye.
Looking North from Plage du Saussaye where the waters are clear and various shades of blue-green.
Continuing south, our first look at the wide and sandy Plage Verger. For about 1 kilometer we trudged through the sand.
And this is Plage du Guesclin.
Prudence! at Plage du Guesclin

Sun-Ling and John have been traveling the earth since 2008 while blogging, eating vegetarian and vegan, and riding public transportation. We love uphill day hikes, 20th-century architecture, Roman ruins, all bodies of water, local markets, shopping for groceries, aqueducts, miradors, trip planning, blablacar, and more.
