Back to Tokyo

We arrived in Tokyo just 36 hours ago. It's the first stop of our next long trip that will take us to the Philippines, Borneo, New Zealand and Australia. Lucky for us, the tip of Mt Fuji was visible just above the clouds to the south just before we landed at Haneda Airport (center below, way in the distance just above the plume of industrial steam/smoke).

Clearing formalities was easy, and so was recharging our Suica and ICOCA IC cards. So just 2 hours after landing, we had checked into our hotel near Kanda Station and were out checking the New Year holiday hours at nearby grocery stores. This one will be closed on the 1st and 2nd of January.

After a longish nap we walked south towards Tokyo Railway Station to get some fresh air and check out the lights at the Marunouchi Winter Illumination (1st below). On the way we passed the Extinct Media Museum. (2nd below) Marunouchi Winter Illumination -Tokyo, Japan
