Italy: Down the Adriatic Coast by Train to Barletta

From Rimini we rode the train south along the coast of the Adriatic Sea to Barletta. For more than 5 hours we watched the rainy, blustery sand and sea roll by. This turned out to be the start of a four-week, 3000-kilometer journey, mostly by train, along the southern coast of the Italian Peninsula, followed by a circumnavigation of Sicily, and then up to Naples and finally Rome. Whew.

Barletta is in the north of the Apulia region of Italy. We stayed in the heart of the old city, 10 minutes from the station and 5 minutes from the Port, Duomo, and Castelo.
