I wrote in my journal, "We arrived in Monopoli on the most beautiful day of the trip" after yet another session of training along the Adriatic coast. Monopoli, a town positioned approximately halfway between Bari and Brindisi, serves as an excellent base for day trips. One day, we visited Ostuni and Polignano a Mare, and on another day, we explored Brindisi.
Monopoli boasts piazzas, ports, a monumental cathedral, a beautiful sea and sky, and quite a few tourists wandering about.

The day we arrived in Monopoli we made a very short trip to the ancient town of Conversano where the Christmas Market was ready for business, and the back streets were full of hats and laundry.
Sun-Ling and John have been traveling the earth since 2008 while blogging, eating vegetarian and vegan, and riding public transportation. We love uphill day hikes, 20th-century architecture, Roman ruins, all bodies of water, local markets, shopping for groceries, aqueducts, miradors, trip planning, blablacar, and more.
