The place we stayed, Argle Accommodations, was across from the hospital in the CBD (Central Business District). Find the giant Coca-Cola can in the photo first below. That can was just outside our room window. ;-) Also see the photo of Hobart from Mount Wellington (3rd below).

There is the Salamanca Market on Saturdays, Farmgate Market on Sundays (2nd below), and Franco Night Market on Fridays (3rd below).

There are many vegan and/or vegetarian restaurants, and more than one Thai. We were eating as if we had not left Southeast Asia. Most of these restos had lunch specials; a plate of rice or noodles, with your choice of 2 or 3 of 6 tasty dishes.

John's favorite vegan resto was Thai Veggie Hut where the choices for the lunch special (pick 3) were Tom Yum flavored veggies, Savory BBQ Tofu, Sour Curry, Spicy Curry, and another tofu dish. Yummy!

Not to mention the vegan menu at Tasty Korea Chicken. We had Vegan Japchae (1st below) and Vegan Bulgogi (2nd).

We were happy to find more than 40 Art Deco buildings around town including the humble Art Deco building with Tattoo Studio (1st below), the spiffy Art Deco Telegraph Hotel (2nd below), the monumental Hobart City Council and the Colonial Mutual Life buildings (3rd and 4th below) .

Our accommodations were adjacent to the Elizabeth Street pedestrian mall with shops, arcades, restaurants, coffee shops, outdoor seating, and more.
