Tasmania - Cradle Mountain National Park

From Launceston we took a day tour to Cradle Mountain National Park. The area has been protected since the 1910s, but didn't become popular until it got on the UNESCO list. It is in a pretty remote place; however, the parking lot is huge and had many vehicles.

We walked to Marion’s Lookout, starting at Dove Lake (1st, 2nd and 3rd below). Uup. up, up with great views at the top. The "cradle" is the middle section of the mountain at center right.

There were no wombats to be seen at Ronny Creek. I suspect they can only be seen at dawn and dusk. But the trail wandered by a small waterfall, so we got a small taste of the temperate rainforest.
