The Hobart Rivulet Track starts from the edge of the CBD (Central Business District) and continues for 4km to the Cascades Brewery. At several points you can see the summit of Mount Wellington (1st below). Otherwise it's pleasant walking along the rivulet (Creek) and its wildlife like the native hen (2nd below).

Female Factory, this former workhouse for women convicts is a UNESCO site. And there's a view to MOunt Wellington.

The return of the Rivulet Walk is at the Cascades Brewery.

One day we rode the city bus to the village of Fern Tree. Then walked a 14 km loop to the Organ Pipes dolerite columns and back. The weather was cloudy and cool. But the ascent warmed us up. We did not walk up all the way to the summit, as the loop "returns" at The Chalet. A great walk, starting with fern trees in the temperate rainforest to boulder fields with views down to Hobart and the Derwent River, and eventually one is directly under the Organ Pipes dolerite rock formations.

At Sphinx Rock Lookout we could see down to the Derwent River, and up to Mount Wellington with its summit enveloped in clouds.

We stopped for lunch at "The Junction". Check out the cool bike rack!

Two Kookaburras sitting in a tree. Merry, merry king and queen of the bush are they!

Across the Boulder Fields with occasional views down to Hobart.

After taking a sharp left at The Chalet shelter and a quick lunch, we walked across more boulder fields, and found ourselves below the Organ Pipes.

And down, down, down back to Silver Falls at Fern Tree Park, then home on the bus.

The Mount Field tour gave us 20 minutes at the top of Mount Wellington (1271 m, 4170 ft) Wow! There are 360 views from above the treeline, with the best down to Hobart and out to Bruny Island.

Views of Mount Wellington from various parts of Hobart; some of which may have appeared in other blog posts.
