Sun-Ling declared that today's hike up the mountain behind Kotor was our "best hike ever". We went from sea level to 950 meters (about 3100 feet) and back down in 8 hours mostly along the old road, with a castle, goats, rock scrambles, unexpected bridges, switchbacks, WWI trenches, great views of Kotor Old Town, the Bay of Kotor, and the Adriatic. And more. The view from our turnaround point - the top is another 800 meters - cannot be adequately captured in words or photos.
In chronological order:
View from Castle to Old Town.
The Portal.
Switchbacks.
Gazing at the Bay of Kotor.
Scramble.
At 950 meters and still looking up.
View from our turn-around point.
Descending through a pine forest.

No church artwork, just plain hike. Beautiful. Was this touted in your tour guides or did you stumble, no pun intended, upon it?
I failed to mention, GM shows the switch backed trail very clearly.
Ed, This hike is mentioned in most, but not all of the guides.
these are gorgeous views and you look so happy!
WQ, so good to hear from you finally! Every time there is a night shot we'd say to each other -- maybe WQ would like it. You must have been too busy.
