Another brief update as family visiting plus Great Wall hiking leave me still owing 3 or 4 Hiking in Hangzhou and 1 Sun-Ling Returns to Hefei posts.
Yesterday: Sun-Ling on the Panlongshan section of the Great Wall of China near Gubeikuo, Beijing.
Today's breakfast at our homestay in Gubeikuo Village: tomato soup with homemade wheat noodles; salad, homemade grilled round bread; and some purple-ish tofu cheese.
Sun-Ling and John have been traveling the earth since 2008 while blogging, eating vegetarian and vegan, and riding public transportation. We love uphill day hikes, 20th-century architecture, Roman ruins, all bodies of water, local markets, shopping for groceries, aqueducts, miradors, trip planning, blablacar, and more.

Wow, looks like you found a really deserted stretch of wall! congrats.
Yes, I was thinking the same! Looks like a very nice part of the wall to walk and enjoy the beauty. :)
Kathy and Dayle - Yes, deserted. This part of the wall near Gubeikou is 110 kms from the Forbidden City as the crow flies and is partly in Hebei Province; thus it would be a very long day for daytrippers....Our research paid off!
