Etretat didn't catch my attention until we were watching the French series Lupin. Being a fan of high coastal walks, I had to check it out. I resisted the temptations of longer walks, e.g. from Fecamp to Etretat, and decided to allow ourselves to explore all the viewpoints right around Etretat.
Those places were even more scenic than we had expected. We had a wonderful time exploring all the viewpoints. Now that we have been there, I see Etretat paintings in every art museum. It's the most popular landscape for French painters and I understand why.
Signs showing the spots of Impressionist paintings - both by Claude Monet.
Ourselfies.
View looking east to Calais. We ate the 2nd half of our lunch here.
Another view to the east.
Sun-Ling on the high coastal path.
Looking back to the Etretat beach and beyond. That's a golf course beyond the beach.
A few folks were in the water, but most were walking the cliffs or beach, or fishing.
View to the west.
Lunch spot views.
And the walk continues....
Short video.
Sun-Ling and John have been traveling the earth since 2008 while blogging, eating vegetarian and vegan, and riding public transportation. We love uphill day hikes, 20th-century architecture, Roman ruins, all bodies of water, local markets, shopping for groceries, aqueducts, miradors, trip planning, blablacar, and more.
