Paris: Musée de l'Orangerie

I hadn't known much about L’Orangerie before this trip. If Monet had not been my favorite artist before, L’Orangerie dropped all his contenders. Painted in the last decade of his life, as a peace monument donated to the state, the gigantic waterlily panels were specially designed for the two oval rooms in the old orangerie. It was a very special place. As an atheist, if I could have a religious experience, this might be what it's like.

I decided waterlily season at Giverny needs to be on my bucket list. John is foretelling that the place would be like a zoo.

"The Water Lilies Cycle" by Claude Monet. There are 8 large monumental paintings in the two connected oval rooms.

We liked the exhibition "Sam Szafran. Obsessions of a Painter". Szafran, a new-to-us artist, painted stairwells, large plants, and workshops.
